As the world of dance and media evolve to include new innovative forms, so does our festival evolve from year to year with changing venues and unique events. We partner with some of LA’s most prestigious institutions along with unconventional settings attracting 1000’s of audience members each year.

Dance Camera West welcomes dance media in any dance style or genre. Categories include: screendance, short films, features, documentary, installations, and interactive dance media. We look forward in seeing your new work and if you have something outside the listed categories let us know.

Important Dates:

Early Deadline: December 16, 2009
Final Deadline: January 15, 2010  (postmarked)
Festival notifications will be emailed April 15, 2010
Festival runs throughout June 2010, event dates TBA

 

Entry Fee:

$50 fee; $40 members before December 16, 2009
$60 fee; $50 members after December 16, 2009

To be considered for the festival the following is required:

  • Completed DCW entry form
  • Entry fee (see deadlines)
  • DVD – please no online preview requests

FESTIVAL ENTRY REGULATIONS

  1. Entries must be on DVD. Festival screening formats vary depending on venue and will be emailed upon acceptance. Formats range from Digibeta, Beta, DVCam, (PAL and NTSC), 16mm, 35mm, HDCam, HDCamSR

  2. DVD should be postmarked by January 15, 2010 and sent with DCW entry form and entry fee.

  3. If paying by credit card through DCW site please include Order ID# and date of payment on entry form. Checks issued through US banks only. Foreign entries should be paid in US Traveler’s Checks or US international money orders or credit card.

  4. Entries must never have been shown or broadcast in Los Angeles. University or showcase showings allowed; local cable broadcast allowed.

  5. DCW prefers to keep all preview DVD’s for our archives. Filmmaker is responsible for cost of sending screening media to DCW. DCW will return screening media after the festival.

  6. Please email 300 DPI jpegs along with photo credits including photographer, dancers, director, choreographer, and film title to festival@dancecamerawest.org.

  7. DCW is given the right to use excerpts from your work in all DCW promotional materials.

  8. DISCLAIMER/LIABILITY: Every effort will be made to protect entries while in the Festival's care; however, the Festival and its sponsors do not assume liability for damage or loss to media.

  9. Upon acceptance into the festival your film cannot be withdrawn.

  10. Please send completed entry form with DVD and payment [if not paying online].

  • Please DO NOT REQUEST signature confirmation by
    Dance Camera West.
  • When sending media through customs please designate:
    “Film for Festival –No commercial value”
